Media Training Workshop
The Media Training Workshop (MTW) is a month-long project which will encourage and train Palestinian university students to create short documentaries about their experiences and struggles accessing education under the Israeli occupation. This pilot project, inspired by Israeli human rights organization B’tselem’s 2008 distribution of video cameras to Palestinians living under occupation and the documentary which resulted, aims to provide students with the basic concepts of filmmaking. In doing so, the project hopes to allow students to engage creatively with the denial of their human right to education. The skills our students will learn in this workshop can be easily transferred to their academic and professional lives, and the work they produce will be shared with a wide audience, including allied human rights organizations and other universities both in Palestine and abroad. The Right to Education Campaign hopes to establish MTW as an annual program, using the student-produced documentaries as a means by which to document the abuses students face under the Israeli military occupation.

Memoir Writing Training Workshop
The Memoir Writing Training Workshop (MWTW) is a week-long intensive non-fiction writing workshop, which aims to encourage and empower Palestinian university students to write short stories, poetry, and journalistic articles about their experiences and struggles in accessing education under the Israeli occupation. Developed by the Right to Education Campaign with the assistance of Palestinian poet, writer, and editor Najwan Darwish and writer, teacher, and theater/film director Elana Golden of Los Angeles-based The Writing Studio, MWTW seeks to provide students with the writing and communication skills to advocate against and resist the injustices of the Israeli occupation. In so doing, students will also assist in the Right to Education Campaign’s ongoing documentation of the violations of Palestinians’ human right to education. The Right to Education Campaign hopes to establish MWTW as a regular program, with one training session per academic semester, and to publish student works in international publications. Students’ works will also be published in a periodic anthology to be distributed both in Palestine and abroad.
